Problems with British Gas alarm
I know ultimately I need to get an engineer out, but thought I'd ask anyway:

Last night, the alarm panel box started going off inside and said there was a fault on the landing. After I keyed in our code the noise stopped. The trouble light stayed on.

This morning there are no lights on the alarm at all. The clock is working, so presumably it's not lack of power causing no light.

I had all the batteries in the monitors replaced last year along with the battery in the main box, so I assume it's not a battery problem (plus the fault isn't listed as a low battery).

So the questions are:
1. Any ideas what might have caused the lights to go out?
2. What the fault on the landing might be (and whether it's costly)?
3. If I leave the alarm as it is and don't use it, will it be OK or is the alarm likely to do weird things (like go off etc!)?

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated so I can think about what I want to do before calling an (expensive) engineer.

Thanks!

RE: Problems with British Gas alarm
well, the trouble light is on again as was the alarm in the keypad box.
I now won't want to leave the house in case it goes off again.
anyone any ideas?
I've googled this alarm but find very little online that I am able to access, not being in the trade!
(PS the pad is kp5500z)

RE: Problems with British Gas alarm
If you can use a screwdriver, Install a new panel for £50 and follow the instructions of the site engineers in order to get the system up and running smoothly again. Simple.

If it's wire-free, replacing the panel won't solve the problem.;)

Hiya Ron,

I've just had an e.mail from aron david about losing weight. Honest !

If the system is wireless then I definitely shouldn't have made that post. Ah well !
