I am about to move into a house which has a conqueror panel. At the moment there is no power to the house so the alarm system is dead. Some alterations have been made to the rooms so will need additional pirs and an extra zone. Apparently the system has been down for a while and the user codes are unknown. I used to install the paragon panel about 15years ago which I asume is similar in contruction and design. I am hoping that the system can be made live again and assume will require new battery. After so long I no longer have my manuals or even remember how to set these up. What I would like to do is to reset the panel so I can put new codes in and reset the zones up as required. If anybody has a copy of the engineers manual or failing that suggest a good panel that I could replace it with. I would prefer to go down the see if I can salvage it route first though.

Many thanks

Andrew

Hi Andee,

Well, quite a few experts on the site would tell you to go for a new panel at the outset, and I would not disagree with them. However, you are no stranger to this business and I think you are just itching to sort out the original panel yourself. You know, obviously, that before you even start, you'll need a new battery, and also the location of the mains. i.e. is it coming off a lighting circuit, ring main or from the consumer unit. Again, we can agree that the external warning device will need a check over, and might even need renewing. I think you should give it a go. Get the existing system working first before making any decisions on where and when to position further detectors. I wouldn't mind betting that once you've cracked it, you'll want to put a new panel in anyway..since that's the sort of person you are.. Correct ?

We'll activate your account now so that you can click on my name and send me your usual e.mail address so that you can have the manuals for the existing system.. on condition that you keep us informed of your progress.

Take Care

You are right in saying that yes I would put a new panel in, but with the costs of moving there is very little spare at the moment. The thing is that at the end of the day it will proberbly need a new panel anyway along with new pirs, external sounder and battery. The wiring will need metering out and hopefully will still be ok so a lot of the hard work done. But im up for a challange and agreed I will keep you all updated and even pics if I remember the camera.

Many thanks
Andrew
