My Sterling 10 alarm is going off at random times
Guest - 14-08-2010 12:37 AM

My Sterling 10 alarm is going off at random times, and seeing as we never use it anyway, I would like to disconnect it so that it cannot go off, but is still there if one day we decide to reinstate it. Are you able to provide me with some sort of manual that would show how I do this, or am I better off getting someone in to do it for me?

Why switch it off? You are only putting the problem off
With the your input and our help we will probably be able to sort out the problem.
Please join the site and then in this thread try to give us the following information:
1)How long has the system been installed?
2)Has the back-up battery been changed if over 5years old?
3)Alarm going off at random times - Is the alarm set(ie you're out of the house) or unset?
4)When it goes off what shows on the display of the keypad?

As stated in another thread, I'd prefer to get the alarm working and have my property protected rather than switched off - Or at least know if I needed to use it I could

Hi,

Please have a good think before 'dissing' your security. In one police force area alone, and a small one at that, it was reported that of the two thousand eight hundred burglaries barely a handful were solved, although that is not the fault of the police. What it means is, if you are burgled you may never see items of sentimental value ever again. There's very little to go wrong with a Sterling 10 and with a bit of love and attention the system should run fault free for years.. only activating if there is an attempted break in. Consider Marty's thoughts on this..he's made some valid points,

If you never use it because you think something like " I'm in a nice area and we've got a neighbourhood watch and there are never any break in's in this part of the World and I've got a dog and I never leave the house empty....." that's the very time that you need it.

Take Care

Engels
